Where’s an unusual but cheap(ish) place to go on holiday/travel?

I’m turning 18 in January and planning to save up all my money to go travel somewhere lovely, but on the cheap. I probably won’t be going untill the summer but I’m begining to plan it all in advanced.

I’m not into luxsury hotels and stuff like that, I want to go somewhere with a bit of culture and atmosphere. I’m thinking of traveling alone, but unfortunetly I know theres alot of danger for women traveling alone. I’ve heard some horrable horror stories of travelers in china with human trafficing and everything.

I’d love to check out Japan, moroco, india, you know places that are diffrent from the UK.

Does anyone have any websites they could recoment or places they enjoyed? And how much it costs?

Thank you

Just curious, Where, when, + what length was your holiday + how much did it cost?

Sorry for the +s… I ran out of space!

I’m budgeting a trip for South America, though also considering Japan and South East Asia, and wanting to compare my travels to other people’s in terms of budgeting. Last time I went to India it cost £4000 for three of us together, but that was for a month and NOT living on a budget, ie. staying in good hotels and doing tours etc. I realize I could, and will again easily do a much cheaper trip, as I’m less scared about eating cheap food and staying in hostels/going on dodgy trains/buses etc.

I’m planning to go for 2 months to Peru and Brazil, wanting to see the amazon, rio de janeiro, go on the inca trail, and see some places like el salvador, quito, manaus, ihrs Grandes.

If you can remember, please tell me anywhere you went, the time period you stayed there, any tours you went on or days out, the cost of everything, including the type of accommodation you stayed in and range of restaurants you went to, flights, internal flights, buses, trains, anything!

Thanks

Where is the most exciting, tropical, adventurous, amazing or extreme place for a couple to go on holiday?

My boyfriend and I are both 20, and next year in any month of the year (as we havent decided yet) we want to go on holiday for a 2-3week period. We want to go somewhere that is different from the usual barcelona trip and different than just disney land paris! We have briefly looked at places, well just really noted down names of places that sound interesting:
Africa
Florida(maybe a couple of days at disney?)
Thailand
Hong Kong
New York
Amazon- for the rainforests
India- for the culture
So basically we only have names at the places and we were wondering where is the most adventurous place for us to visit. We are keen on rainforest especially and tropical destinations. But we are also interested in exciting cities like newyork, florida and india! We are just stuck at the moment and want to go on the best holday of our lives (so far…!) So we would be grateful if anyone has any ideas or would like to tell us about their experiences!! We just want the best. The downside is we have a budget of £800 each and then spending money on top!

Thank you for your help guys!!

Love Jess and Mark

xx

oh one more thing we would ideally like hotels but if anyone has any other ideas about camping in a rainforest or something allllllll ideas are grately appreciated!

Moving to India for 3 months with 3 small children, need information!!?

My husband and I are moving to Kanpur, India for 3 months for my husbands work, with our 3 children in Sep 2009.By then my oldest daughter will be 4 and I have twins, a boy and girl who will then be 3!!I would really appreciate if anyone could give me any information about the city, such as if it is safe? What interesting things there are to do? Will the children enjoy it?What the infrastructure is like? Are playgroups common there as I would like my children to be able to play and intergrate with children their own age, as to ensure they have a rich experience!During the day my husband will be working, is it safe for the children and I to move around on our own??Etc etc, I could go on forever asking questions. We are Irish and live in the beautiful green countryside so this move to a city will be a huge culture shock! Thanks in advance!

Graduation Travel?

My friends and I want to go on a high school graduation trip for about 3 weeks. We are thinking either a tour of Europe, Tour of Egypt(mainly Cairo), or a tour of India. 2 of us will be 17 and one will be 18. I’ve been to Europe but not on my own. And I just want to know how safe it would be for us 3 to travel to any of these places. We have about 4 grand each to spend including airfare, hotel, food, any other things.
Flying out of Toronto or Montreal

Reasonably priced nice hotels in Delhi?

My boyfriend and me are planning to go to India in June for a wedding and are currently looking for somewhere to stay. We’ll be staying for about 10 days, can’t afford anything too expensive as we are students but as long as it’s clean, air conditioned and has trustworthy food, anything goes, it’s mainly a place to sleep as we will be out and about a lot.
Has anyone got experience with this hotel by any chance:

http://www.hotelajanta.com/

It looks really nice and is affordable, reviews on trip advisor are mixed though so any experiences would be appreciated.
Also any thoughts on how long it takes for UK/German citizen to get a visa? I’ve done it before but it’s been a while and I would like to know when to start planning!

How the hell do I tell him?

I met my fiancee in India, we travelled and ended up living together in his home town in Ireland. When we met, it was complicated, he moved in with me because his hotel had burned down and had no where to go. We hooked up because it was the conveniant thing to do I guess – even though he tells me that he loved me the first time he saw me. I was never really that attracted to him but he has a lovely personality and I love that about him.
He is so sensetive and doesn’t take things very well.
I do love him but I know that if I move over there again (this time for good) I will regret it. He probably will too as he will be able to tell something is up.
We do have sex but I am really not attracted to him in that way, I imagine him to be a woman when we do and I pretend to like it. We joked about me leaving him for a woman and he said it would fuck him up. I make excuses for not having sex all the time.
I have to tell him before I risk doing much more damage. Only question is how?

Which beach paradise would be best for honeymoon in September? We hate rain!?

After looking at Seychellles, for example, versus southern India, these island paradises look very expensive. We have been to India before though – and it is very hard work to get around. We would love to stay in a luxury hotel in Mumbai for a few days and then head down to Kerala and Goa but I am thinking we have already done a similar trip. I would hate to spend a fortune on a “luxury” holiday though, and for it to rain, or for us to find we are stuck in a posh hotel that costs the earth.
